The most common hold-up with motorized curtains is power. A wired track motor needs a socket or a fused spur within reach of one end of the track. In many Dubai apartments there is a socket near the floor, but nothing at ceiling height, so we plan the cable route before fitting.
Where there is no power and no chance of adding it, battery motors are the answer. They work well on roller and honeycomb blinds and on lighter curtain tracks. We show you how to charge them and how long a charge should last with your daily use.
Motorized curtains run best on ceiling tracks with ripple fold carriers. See ceiling-mounted tracks in Dubai. For blinds, read our blinds and shades guide, and for tracks that need resizing, see custom rod cutting and fitting.
