Shop-bought rods come in a handful of lengths, and moving house means rods that no longer fit. Instead of buying new ones, we cut what you have to size.
Aluminium, steel, wood and brass are each cut with the right blade, deburred and capped so the cut never shows. The rod is then fitted, levelled and the curtains hung.

Custom Curtain Rod Cutting Process: Measure, Mark, Cut, Finish

Measure
We measure the window and the wall on both sides, then decide the final rod length with you. The usual rule is the window width plus 15 to 25 cm on each side, adjusted for nearby walls, wardrobes or corners.

Mark
The cut line is marked with a square so the end is perfectly straight. For tracks, we check the position of the end stop and the overlap arms before cutting, so the curtains still meet in the middle.

Cut
Metal rods and aluminium tracks are cut with a fine-tooth hacksaw or a metal cutting blade. Wooden poles are cut with a fine saw and supported so the end does not split. Cutting happens outside or on a dust sheet.

Finish
Cut ends are filed smooth and deburred so they do not snag fabric or hands. End caps and finials are refitted, and the rod is mounted, levelled and loaded with the curtains.

When to Cut a Curtain Rod to Size Instead of Buying New
The most common reason is a move. Rods bought for one apartment rarely suit the next, and cutting them down is cheaper and quicker than buying new ones. The second is a window next to a wall or wardrobe, where a standard rod would hit the obstruction.

Metal Files
Files smooth the cut edge after sawing. Smooth ends will not snag fabric or hands. They also let end caps sit flush.
Connector Sleeves
Sleeves that join two rod sections when a rod is too short. A centre bracket supports the joint. The connection is hidden behind the curtain.
End Caps and Finials
Caps cover the cut end of a rod or track. Finials add a decorative finish. Both stop rings from sliding off.
