The wider the gate, the more leverage a child has when pushing or swinging on it. That is why wide gates should be fixed to the wall rather than held by pressure alone. On gypsum walls we fix into the studs or use cavity anchors rated for the pull, and on concrete we use plugs that grip the wall properly.
Retractable gates need the catch on one side to be perfectly in line with the cassette on the other, or the mesh sags and a child can push underneath. We set both at the same height with a laser and test the tension with the mesh fully extended.
For narrower openings, a standard gate is often all you need. Our guide to baby safety gate installation in Dubai covers those. Angled walls, spiral stairs and odd openings are handled through custom gate fitting for irregular spaces in Dubai.
