A stair gate is only as safe as its fitting. The most common faults we see in Dubai homes are gates pressure-fitted at the top of the stairs, gates left with a gap under the bar wide enough for a small foot, and spindles tightened against a gypsum wall that slowly gives way.
On a visit we measure the opening at the top and at the bottom, because many villa walls are not perfectly parallel. We set the gate square, check the gap at the floor, and test the latch dozens of times. Where the gate meets a gypsum partition, we fit a wall cup or a small mounting plate so the pressure does not crack the board.
Spiral staircases, angled banisters and irregular openings need a different approach. For those we use custom gate fitting for irregular spaces, and for long open-plan rooms we fit extra-wide and retractable gates in Dubai.
Gates are usually one part of a bigger safety plan. Our full baby proofing in Dubai service also covers cabinet locks, outlet covers, furniture anchoring and balcony safety nets.
