We clean, buff and recoat in about a day.
Options
Light wear
For dull and lightly scratched finishes. The floor is buffed and a new coat applied. It takes about a day.
Deep wear
For bare patches, grey wood and deep scratches. The floor is sanded to fresh timber. It takes several days.
Process
Dirt and old polish build-up are removed.
A buffer with an abrasive pad keys the old finish.
All dust is removed so the new coat stays clear.
A fresh coat of lacquer or oil restores the sheen.
A recoat every two or three years keeps the protective layer intact, so the wood itself never wears. That means you may never need a full sanding.
Supermarket polishes and wax build up into a sticky film. We strip that before recoating, because new lacquer will not bond over it.
For worn floors, see floor sanding and refinishing. For scratches, see scratch and dent removal, and for parquet, parquet polishing.
Every 2 to 3 Years
Regular recoats protect the wood itself.
Avoid Wax
Household wax blocks new lacquer from bonding.
