We check the ceiling type and the existing point, and confirm the fixing can carry the weight of the fitting.

Isolate and Prepare
The circuit is isolated and tested dead. The old fitting is removed and the connections inspected.

Fix and Connect
Heavy fittings get a proper support into the slab or a timber batten. The fitting is connected and earthed.

Level and Test
The fitting is levelled, the height adjusted and the circuit tested with the light on and the dimmer, if fitted.
